This article may become a total frustration for some Apple fans… You are going to face a horrible truth about Apple devices! Every iPhone, iPad or MAC computer can possibly glitch, get stuck or freeze as well as other electronic devices on the market. To get you prepared I decided to write this post to show you how to reset an iPhone or iPad when it’s not working as it should.
Are you shocked? I was!… when my iPhone and iPad stopped working for no obvious reasons. Every electronic device tends to fail from time to time, may it be due to overheat or RAM overload… It doesn’t matter.
At a glance Apple products have a perfect look, but I can tell you one thing: THERE IS NOTHING IDEAL IN THIS WORLD. iPhone and iPad are NOT the exceptions from this rule! These two may easily stop responding to touch gestures or even physical buttons. Some people might think the device is now dead, but stop right there!
I want you to try the following solution first. There are two ways to reboot an iOS device. I call it – Soft Restart and Hard Reset.
iPhone Soft Restart
To do a soft restart of an iPhone press and hold a POWER button for 5 seconds then swipe on the red line at the top of the screen. Be patient, your iPhone will shut down in few seconds. To turn on the iPhone press the POWER button ones again.
It’s hard to believe, but soft restart of iPhone may cure quite few problems with your iOS device. I managed to fix an issue with YouTube video playback on the iPhone this way.
iPhone Hard Reset
If your iOS device is not responding, stuck in the app or has a black screen, you should do a hard reset. To do so press and hold HOME + POWER buttons simultaneously for at least 10 seconds. The device should turn off.
This method cured my iPhone from crazy battery drain (- 20% of the charge overnight).
How to reset an iPhone if the Power/Home button is broken?
What would you do if the iPhone has to be restarted but one of the iPhone buttons is broken? It’s a real situation and a lot of people had experienced it. It might seem there is no fix for that, but actually there is one… or two solutions.
1 If you need to hard reset an iPhone with broken Power or Home button, you have to wait until the iPhone battery drains off completely and the phone shuts down. To turn the iPhone back ON, just connect it to a charger.
2 If you need to make a soft restart of the iPhone with a broken Power button, you can switch on the Assistive touch option (Settings > General > Accessibility > Assistive Touch).
Don’t panic if your iOS device stopped working properly. Today you’ve learned two ways of restarting an iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch. If you like the post, please share it on social networks.
